Support for the severely burned Ahmad from Gaza
Ahmad was severely burned in a bombing raid in North Gaza and was taken to the Al-Aqsa Hospital there, a place where almost everything is lacking. There, Ahmad could neither be fed, because there is simply nothing to eat, nor receive adequate surgical care, because there are no resources for adequate care. Ahmad steadily lost weight, the transplanted skin failed to take root and became infected.
Ahmad was initially supposed to be taken to Jordan, but was rejected due to lack of capacity. Finally, he was supposed to be transferred within Gaza, but that also didn't work out. After weeks of struggle, a solution was found to send him protein-rich food directly to the isolated northern Gaza region.
The Florian Lex Foundation took over Ahmad's protein and food supply there. The Refugees Foundation and the local NGO anera ensured that the protein reached Ahmad. We were able to stabilize him, and he has since been granted asylum in Italy and is receiving further treatment there.
